Artificial intelligence (AI) and robots are to play an ever growing role in our economy. And to put it clearly, the billionaires will own the AI and the robots. To fit in, the general population will have to find ways of contributing and/or find ways to stay out of the way.
As a preparation for the coming AI and robotics, I believe the Trump administration reclassified nurses as “technicians” rather than “professionals” to pay them less. Nurses will be here even if AI and robots take over the world because AI and robots do not have “empathy”, and they cannot “care” for others and and their emotions. So we will have a certain amount of human interaction in the future, …. and Trump and billionaire bro’s are looking to reduce costs associated humans and health care costs.
The easiest move to reduce costs with the most impact is to reclassify nursing as a technical activity, rather than a professional service. Currently, the average salary for a registered nurse is approximately $94K. Dropping nurses to “technical” degrees may reduce wages by half?
Some suggest that Trump’s move to reclassify nurses is aimed at reducing access to educational/professional financing – saying less will be made available to nursing students for their studies. Which is true and important. but still sits second fiddle to reduced wages and salaries, I think.
What do you think?
